Foods I should eat to reach omega-3 DHA fatty acid levels and why it is necessary
Omega-3 DHA fatty acid is mainly found in Atlantic salmon (1.2 g per serving) and herring (0.9 g per serving).
Omega-3s play important roles in the body as components of the phospholipids that form the structures of cell membranes. DHA is quantitatively the most important omega-3 PUFA in the brain; it has been consistently shown to have unique and indispensable functions in the neuronal membrane. It promotes normal vision maintenance. In addition to their structural role in cell membranes, omega-3s (along with omega-6s) provide energy to the body and are used to form eicosanoids.
In adults, the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA.
In the case of maternal intake during pregnancy and postnatally, it should be 200 mg of DHA in addition to the 250 mg of DHA and EPA recommended for adults.
Contains fish.
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of reach of young children.
